Following the passing of long standing Almsperson, John Fairhurst in 2020, the Trustees of the Almshouses decided to refurbish 2A, with a new Kitchen and Bathroom, and decoration throughout. However, early in 2021, they were made aware of substantial grants available through Homes England and a decision was made to refurbish both properties and add a small extension at the rear.
Plans were drawn up by local architect Tim Buxbaum and planning permission was granted in 2022. Later in the year local builder Paul Rust was appointed as the main contractor and work started in July 2023. You can follow the progress of the works in our Gallery.
